The tilak is on 11 November, and your gift may not be there by then
You live abroad and your brother is in India. Bhai Dooj falls on Wednesday, 11 November 2026, and you want to send a Bhai Dooj gift for your brother in India from abroad. Today is Sunday, 1 November, so you have ten days.
This guide is for the sender outside India, whether you are a sister sending to a brother or a brother sending to a sister. It covers the date, what the delivery windows really allow, what to send and what to write. If almonds are your pick, see our Kashmiri Mamra Badam page for current prices and pack sizes.
When is Bhai Dooj in 2026?
Bhai Dooj is on Wednesday, 11 November 2026, two days after Diwali on 8 November. The Dwitiya tithi runs from 2:00 PM on 10 November to 3:53 PM on 11 November. The tilak time shifts by city, so check your brother’s.
Shubh Panchang gives the afternoon tilak window as 1:31 PM to 3:45 PM for Surat. Drik Panchang gives 1:10 PM to 3:20 PM for New Delhi. Both agree on the date and the tithi times. Diwali is on Sunday, 8 November, per Dekho Panchang.
The tilak is an afternoon rite, so the gift should reach him the day before, not on the morning itself. For a sibling abroad, the gift is the part you cannot hand over in person. The timing is what you control.
Can I send a Bhai Dooj gift to India from abroad?
Yes, if the gift goes to an address in India. On the Valley Origin shop, you order as the sender, tick “Send this as a gift” and enter your brother’s name, mobile and address in India. Valley Origin does not say it ships outside India.
Here is how the gift checkout works, checked on 30 October 2026.
- Tick “Send this as a gift”.
- Enter your name as the sender. Country and phone number are optional.
- Add an optional gift message.
- Enter the receiver’s name, mobile number and address in India.
Order updates go to you, the sender, so you can forward them. Payment is by Cashfree, with UPI, cards, netbanking and wallets. We do not say that a card issued abroad will work, so ask on the gifting page before you start if you are unsure.
Which delivery option can reach in time?
Standard will not arrive by 11 November. It is dispatched in 1 to 2 business days and delivered in 8 to 14 business days after that. Quick delivery takes 3 to 4 days and costs Rs 200 extra, but nothing is promised.
These are the live delivery options on the shop, checked on 30 October 2026. Our shipping policy has the full terms.
Count it out. Say you order on Monday, 2 November. Dispatch takes you to 3 or 4 November. Add 8 business days at the very best and Standard lands after 11 November. Business days also skip Sundays and holidays, and the days around Diwali are holidays in many cities.
Quick delivery is the only option with a chance. It has priority dispatch and a 3 to 4 day window. We do not promise any order by a set date, so read the cut-off at checkout. Our guide on last minute Diwali gift delivery works through the same sums for 8 November.
The honest advice: if the 11th matters to him, order Quick today and still plan for a late parcel. If it does not, Standard is fine and costs nothing extra above Rs 999.
What do I do if the gift will arrive after Bhai Dooj?
Tell him it is coming, call on the day and send a photo of the order update. Dry fruits keep for weeks, so a late parcel is still a good gift. Do not promise a date you cannot control.
A sweet box would be stale by then. A sealed pack of nuts is not. That is the real reason dry fruits suit a gift that may run late.
Here is a simple plan.
- Order today. The order date is the one thing you control.
- Message him now. Say a gift is on its way, not that it will land on Bhai Dooj.
- Call on 11 November. If your sister or brother is in a different time zone, fix the hour in advance.
- Forward the updates. You receive them, so he knows when to expect the courier.
If he lives in another city, your gift is a second reason to speak when it lands. Our guide on sending a dry fruit gift to another city covers addresses and freshness.
What dry fruits suit a brother or sister?
Almonds and walnuts suit most siblings, as they are easy to keep and eat. Pick by habit: the nut he already eats. The Dry Fruits Gift Pack suits someone who likes variety. If he has a nut allergy, send something else.
Say your brother snacks on almonds at his desk. Then a pack of Kashmiri Mamra Badam fits his day. Say your sister bakes. Then Kashmiri Walnut Halves fit her kitchen. Each comes in 250 g, 500 g, 1 kg and 2 kg packs.
For a gift that feels like a gift, the Dry Fruits Gift Pack is a box with 250 g of each type, in 4, 6 or 8 types. It carries a personalised letter of up to 600 characters, written at checkout. See current prices on the page.
Salted pistachios add salt, which matters for some people. If your sibling has diabetes, a nut allergy or high blood pressure, check with their doctor first. For more ideas, see our guide to a Bhai Dooj dry fruit gift.
What should the gift message say?
Keep it to two lines in the language you speak together. Say who it is from and what you wish him. Add a promise to call. A short note that sounds like you beats a long poem.
The message is where a gift from far away becomes personal. You cannot do the tilak, so the note carries some of it. Use the gift message at checkout, or the letter inside the Gift Pack.
Three lines to copy and change:
- “Happy Bhai Dooj, Bhaiya. I wish I was there for the tilak. Keep some for me. Calling you in the evening.”
- “Dear Didi, the tilak is yours today, the gift is late but it is coming. Love, always.”
- “Happy Bhai Dooj. This is a small taste from far away. Eat them slowly and think of me.”
What should I check about the recipient’s address?
Check six things with him: full name, a mobile number he will answer, flat or house number, landmark, PIN code and who will be home. A missed courier call is the usual cause of a failed delivery.
Say you live in Dubai and your brother works long shifts in Pune. Ask him which address is safest and who can take the parcel. A neighbour or a front desk may be the better choice.
- Name as it appears on his ID.
- Mobile number that will be picked up. Warn him an unknown number will call.
- House or flat number and building name.
- Landmark near the gate.
- PIN code, checked twice.
- Who is home on weekdays, since the days around Diwali are holidays.
How does Valley Origin handle gifting orders?
Any shop order can be sent as a gift at checkout. Bulk and festive gifting orders go through an enquiry on the gifting page: send quantity, pack size, date needed and delivery city. Replies come within 1 to 2 business days.
Valley Origin is a family business that began in Kashmir in 1975 and sells direct from growers, with no middlemen. Ordinary shop orders ship across India, free above Rs 999 on Standard delivery.
If you are sending to more than one sibling or address, or you are unsure about payment from abroad, send an enquiry on our gifting page. WhatsApp is +91 95412 92447 and email is hello@valleyorigin.in. Nothing here promises delivery by 11 November.
Frequently asked questions about a Bhai Dooj gift from abroad
Does Valley Origin ship outside India?
No, it does not say it ships outside India. The receiver’s address must be in India. You can place the order from abroad as the sender, and the gift goes to your sibling’s address in India.
Order updates go to you. If you are unsure about anything, ask on the gifting page.
Will Standard delivery reach before 11 November?
No. Standard is dispatched in 1 to 2 business days and delivered in 8 to 14 business days after that, so even the best case lands after 11 November. Plan for a late gift and tell your sibling.
It is still a good choice if the date does not matter.
Will Quick delivery reach before 11 November?
It may, but it is not promised. Quick delivery gets priority dispatch, takes 3 to 4 days and costs Rs 200 extra per order. Check the cut-off at checkout and order today.
Ask on the gifting page if you are unsure.
Can I send the same gift to a sister and a brother in two cities?
Yes. Place a separate gift order for each address, as each order has one receiver. For many addresses at once, send an enquiry on the gifting page with quantity, pack size, date and cities.
Replies come within 1 to 2 business days.
Can I add a personal message?
Yes. Write it in the optional gift message at checkout. The Dry Fruits Gift Pack also places a personalised letter of up to 600 characters, written at checkout, inside the box.
Keep it short and sound like yourself.
A call on 11 November matters more than the courier
Distance changes how you give, not whether you give. Order today for an address in India, check the address with your sibling, write a message that sounds like you and call on the day. If the parcel lands a little later, it gives you one more reason to talk.
For almonds, see the Kashmiri Mamra Badam page for current prices and pack sizes. To send to several addresses, or if payment from abroad worries you, send an enquiry on our gifting page.
